Each year in early July, the opening of the mussel season is celebrated with three days of fishing. On the dike near the fishing harbour is a statue of an open clam.
The two museums are devoted to the Bruinisse mussel. The Fisheries Museum brings past and present of the shellfish culture in pictures, the Oudheidkamer is decorated like an 18th century fisherman’s house and is a listed building.
The Noordzee beach is a 30 minute drive away, just like both the "Brouwersdam" and the beaches on the "kop van Schouwen".
Bruinisse is centrally located, Zierikzee is just a 15 minute drive away. Rotterdam is approximately 45 minutes away.
Overall a great place for your well deserved holiday!
